Within the ANEMONE PLUS project, UkrSCES contributes to the development of tools for assessing the ecological status of the Black Sea and adapting complex scientific methodologies for wider audiences.

One of these tools is the TRIX index: an integrated indicator used to assess eutrophication levels in marine waters.

Eutrophication occurs due to excessive nutrient input, mainly nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, which may lead to algal blooms, oxygen depletion, and degradation of marine ecosystems.

The TRIX index helps:
• assess marine water quality;
• identify vulnerable areas;
• analyse environmental changes;
• support environmental management and decision-making.

Within ANEMONE PLUS, these tools are being integrated into a WebGIS platform to improve accessibility and usability of environmental data.
