Within the ANEMONE PLUS project, UkrSCES contributes to studies assessing the impacts of anthropogenic and climate pressures on Black Sea marine ecosystems.
Special attention is given to analysing war-related environmental impacts, including:
🔹 changes in marine environmental status;
🔹 pollution risks;
🔹 habitat degradation;
🔹 changes in maritime logistics and transport routes.
To assess ecosystem conditions, the project applies advanced tools such as:
🔹 GIS and WebGIS technologies;
🔹 BEAST and CHASE* models;
🔹 remote sensing;
🔹 cumulative impact assessment methods.
The results will be integrated into the Strategic Toolbox being developed within ANEMONE PLUS to support environmental monitoring and evidence-based decision-making in the Black Sea region.
*BEAST is a tool used to assess eutrophication levels in marine ecosystems.
CHASE is a tool designed to assess chemical pollution in marine environments.
